President's Corner: Dave Wilcox (2011-2012)

President's Corner

Sustaining an organization, such as FPCA, for many years is a very challenging task. The successes can be seen as directly related to the laser-like focus of key members and leaders who never let the interests of the park suffer from the complacency of either the City or the Community.

As the organization continues the question is how to embrace that level of commitment and to benefit from the history that has fostered that commitment. The challenge that we have in 2012 and beyond is to maintain the enthusiasm necessary to continue this history. Several thoughts that I have in this regard are directly linked to goals that are important from my point of view:

- Expand membership—new members bring different perspectives and priorities—new, enthused, and thoughtful members are the lifeblood of the organization.

- Expand awareness of FPCA and its goals and purpose though a community wide partnership and direct engagement with other essential community organizations —as well as through the more useful and informative web site. Identifying shared interests with other organizations offers new opportunities for commitment and support. The Park benefits.

- Being part of recognizable history is an exciting prospect. The FPCA focus on the long and unique history of the park is a contribution that can be enduring.

The 2011/12 Board wishes the best for the new Board and members that will continue ----Dave Wilcox
